We are excited to share that Maja Videnovik, Dig-Ed member, as dedicated educator and expert in digital education, has successfully completed the Fulbright TEA Media Literacy Program. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, administered by IREX, and hosted by the School of Education’s Global Engagement Office. This prestigious program brings together educators from across the world to enhance their skills in teaching media literacy and combating the challenges of the digital age.

Together with 23 educators from 13 countries, she joined the UW–Madison School of Education community. She participated in the course: Digital Media and Technology in Schools and Social Studies Curricula which offered opportunities to investigate the use of media in the classroom and centered media literacy in a larger pedagogical context. She developed skills in media literacy and how to critically think about a range of issues in a global context.

As part of Creative Learning with Technology Studio Workshops, Maja got opportunity to learn various digital tools that can be used in media literacy education. Through hands-on workshops and teamwork, participants learned from each other, empowered their digital skills and produces various projects at the end of the course. Additionally, she participated in the lectures concerning contemporary issues in education.

As part of the program, Maja had the opportunity to engage with educators from different countries, share insights, and deepen her knowledge on how to empower students with critical media literacy skills. This experience has further enriched her approach to teaching, allowing her to better address the complexities of digital media in today’s society.

Maja had field experience in Verona Area High School, Madison, Wisconsin, where she got the opportunity to learn about the U.S. educational system, the school’s everyday work, and to learn from teachers and students there. The possibility of observing some classes and giving lectures has enriched her teaching practice.

During the program she promoted our country through participation in podcast “In the Loop with the Sup”, organized by Superintendent Dr. Tremayne Clardy, Verona Area School District, and writing a post with feedback about the unforgettable experience during the Fulbright TEA program at University of Wisconsin – Madison web site.
