The Center for Innovations and Digital Education – Dig-Ed participated in the international conference Learning Communities 2026, organised by Learn & Lead Innovation, held in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia, on 17 October 2026.
Representing Dig-Ed, Maja Videnovik, co-founder of the organisation, contributed as an online speaker with the presentation “Driving Change in Learning Communities: A Field-Tested AI and Gamification Model for Future-Ready Teachers”.

The presentation focused on rethinking teacher professional development by integrating artificial intelligence, gamification, and collaborative learning to empower educators as designers of meaningful, engaging, and learner-centred learning experiences.
Drawing on Dig-Ed’s practical experience in designing and implementing innovative teacher training programmes, the presentation highlighted the importance of moving beyond traditional professional development models focused primarily on introducing new technologies and methodologies. Instead, educators should have opportunities to experience innovative pedagogical approaches themselves, actively participate in collaborative design activities, experiment with AI-supported instructional design, and reflect on their learning.

Special attention was given to the role of learning communities in supporting sustainable professional growth. Collaboration, peer feedback, shared reflection, and continuous exchange of experiences were presented as essential elements for translating professional learning into classroom practice.
The presentation emphasised that while artificial intelligence provides new opportunities and gamification offers strategies for enhancing motivation and engagement, educators remain central to meaningful educational transformation through their pedagogical expertise, creativity, and professional judgement.

Dig-Ed’s participation in Learning Communities 2026 reflects its continued commitment to supporting teacher professional development, promoting innovative pedagogical practices, and strengthening collaboration among educators at national and international levels.
