The Center for innovations and digital education Dig-Ed is incredibly proud to share a monumental milestone for our organization, that our project, “SHIELD: Transforming cybersecurity education through AI, storytelling, and gamification” has been selected as one of the 6 Global Finalists in the prestigious Teacher Training Award category at the international AI for Education Awards 2026.
This world-class recognition was officially announced in Geneva, Switzerland, during the United Nations’ prominent AI for Good Global Summit.
The AI for Education Awards, organized by d-teach online school, celebrate responsible, impactful, and pedagogically meaningful applications of Artificial Intelligence in K-12 education worldwide. Out of numerous competitive submissions spanning 47 countries across six continents, the international jury recognized the high quality and potential of the SHIELD initiative, placing North Macedonia on the global map of educational innovation.

Implemented with the support of the e-Governance Academy, the SHIELD initiative focuses on strengthening and transforming cybersecurity education in K-12 classrooms. SHIELD equips educators with the tools, confidence, and framework needed to navigate human-centered, responsible AI. This global recognition reinforces a core belief at Dig-Ed: we cannot truly transform classrooms without first empowering and supporting the teachers who lead them.

As a global finalist, the journey for the SHIELD project expands further on September 1st, 2026, with the launch of the international Empowerment Programme, where our project’s best practices will be showcased on a world stage to help inspire classrooms and educators across the globe.
