It was both an honour and a genuine pleasure for Maja Videnovik, representing the Center for Innovations and Digital Education (Dig-Ed), to participate in the session “Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom – Partner or Challenge?” at the Socratic Lectures International Symposium.

In her presentation titled “From Challenge to Opportunity: How AI and Gamification Enhance Motivation and Engagement in the Classroom”, she explored how artificial intelligence, when combined with well-designed pedagogy and gamification strategies, can be transformed from a perceived challenge into a powerful partner in the learning process.

The presentation also included insights from the SHIELD project as a case study, demonstrating how these approaches can be effectively applied in real educational contexts and how they can significantly enhance student motivation, engagement, and active participation.

The session opened inspiring discussions on readiness, ethics, and the practical application of artificial intelligence in the classroom. It once again highlighted an important question for the future of education: not whether AI should be part of teaching and learning, but how it can be meaningfully integrated to support and enhance educational practice.
